Palin Now President
Published on September 19, 2008 By Harry_S In US Domestic

The night after becoming President elect, Senator John McCain, has died of an apparent heart attack, and now the country's worst problems in the history of the country will fall to President elect Palin.

This is a purely hypothetical situation but it is also very possible as Senator McCain is the oldest person to run for the country's highest office. I just thought it would be something that could stir some responses from both sides and should provide for some great debate.

God forbid that the situation should become a reality but, what if.

While I knew this wasn't true because I read the news reports before coming here, I just wanted to see who was the one behind the sick sense of humor.

another liberal  in our midst perhaps?

on Sep 19, 2008

I'm not a liberal, I am a registered republican. I was Ronald Reagan's county campaign chairman, but I do disagree with the last eight years and with McCains Vice Pres choice. This choice does scare me and it is what being a vice president is all about......... I just find it hard to believe that this is the best we could do. Do you really want this woman to be commander in chief or do you think that if something happens to McCain that we get a do over?

on Sep 19, 2008

So you're a Republican who doesn't like the Republicans?  Hmmmmm.

Do you really want this woman to be commander in chief or do you think that if something happens to McCain that we get a do over?

What I'd love to know is what is driving you?  What is your real problem here?

With a name like Harry S, I'm sure it CAN'T be her inexperience can it?

How much history do you know about Harry S. Truman?  Did you know how much experience he had as VP?  He hardly had any contact at all with Roosevelt especially when it came to foreign affairs.  From what I understand Roosevelt didn't bother Harry with too many details and THEN HE DIED leaving Truman as the new inexperienced President of the United States.

Here's a quote from Harry Truman himself:

During his few weeks as Vice President, Harry S Truman scarcely saw President Roosevelt, and received no briefing on the development of the atomic bomb or the unfolding difficulties with Soviet Russia. Suddenly these and a host of other wartime problems became Truman's to solve when, on April 12, 1945, he became President. He told reporters, "I felt like the moon, the stars, and all the planets had fallen on me."

So to ease your mind a bit.....just think of Sarah as the S in Harry S. Truman and in your own name and you'll be just fine.

Here's another source from the Wikipedia:

Truman had been vice president for only 82 days when President Roosevelt died, 12 April, 1945. He had had very little meaningful communication with Roosevelt about world affairs or domestic politics after being sworn in as vice president, and was completely uninformed about major initiatives relating to the successful prosecution of the war—notably the top secret Manhattan Project, which was about to test the world's first atomic bomb.

Shortly after taking the oath of office, Truman said to reporters:

"Boys, if you ever pray, pray for me now. I don't know if you fellas ever had a load of hay fall on you, but when they told me what happened yesterday, I felt like the moon, the stars, and all the planets had fallen on me."

So what's the big problem with Sarah Palin?

on Sep 19, 2008

So what's the big problem with Sarah Palin?

Sort of a rhetorical question, really.  Only problem is she's on the 'wrong' ticket.

on Sep 19, 2008

So why is this so bad?

on Sep 19, 2008

Let's see. We get McCain as President with the posibility of Palin running the show if he passes on. So the "bad part" does not happen first, it's only if McCain dies. Yet if Obama wins we get something worse than Palin right off the back and if, for what ever reason Obama happened to kick the bucket, we get Biden.

So to recap, with McCain/Palin we get good to possible bad and with Obama/Biden we get bad to worse. Well, I think that answers my question as to who would be a better choice.

You know zoo, there are times when comedy is inappropiate. To me, this is definitely one of those moments. BTW, thanks for proving Draginols point about how the other side goes the distance, even enjoying the death of members of the opposing party, to reach their goals.

The country could do and has done worse than having Palin as pres.

Actually, given genetics and life style, it is more likely that Obama would be the one croaking, not McCain.  McCain's mother is still alive, Obama's is not.  Obama smokes.  McCain does not.

Unless in the interest of "fairness" the democrats are now proposing a modified logan's run.

Whoa, whoa...I said 'important'.  There was nothing in there about it being a good thing.  I didn't even intend for it to be a joke.  You read too much into what wasn't there.

I'm not so crazy or heartless as to celebrate the death of someone over political reasons...or any reasons, actually.

Obama smokes.

Obama smokes?

Ok then.  That does it for me.  I'm not voting for a smoker!!

on Sep 20, 2008

Obama smokes?

He has tried to quit several times since he started running for the president, but they keep catching him cheating.
